Sam was born March 5, 1943 to Samuel Venable Boykin and Frances Robbs Boykin in Sylacauga, Alabama. He graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering and later earned his Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University. He completed a distinguished 26 year career as an officer in the United States Air Force then continued his service to the aerospace industry at Frontier Technology Inc. where he retired in 2016 to enjoy more time with his grandsons and on the golf course.
He is survived by his wife, Ann, his four sisters, his daughters, Elizabeth and Christie and her husband Steve, and his grandsons, Cameron, Cooper, Sully and Ian. He will be greatly missed.
