Sheila L. Pratt

Sheila L. Pratt, age 73 of Dayton and formerly of Big Stone Gap, Va, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Sycamore Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. Pratt, in 2005. She is survived by her children: Susan Gilbert and husband Tom of SC, David Pratt of Dayton and Robert Pratt and wife Michelle Cunningham of NY. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Bryan, Michael, Kayla and Megan Gilbert and Amanda and Emily Pratt. Sheila was a 1959 graduate of Fairmont High School and earned her degree in Education from Otterbein College in 1964. She taught in Fairborn City Schools for three years and was later a kindergarten teacher at Merrie Time for 10 years and the preschool director at Forest Ridge Baptist Church for five years. She was a charter member of East Dayton Baptist Church, where she used her talents to serve in many areas including playing the organ, directing childrens’ and handbell choirs, and leading the annual trip to music camp. The family will receive friends at the Tobias Funeral Home Beavercreek Chapel, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Rd. on Friday evening, March 6, 2015 from 5-8 PM. Funeral services will be held at East Dayton Baptist Church, 1380 Spaulding Rd. Dayton, OH 45432 on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 10 AM with Rev. Dennis Rutherford officiating. Interment will be held privately in Miami Valley Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either: East Dayton Baptist Church, The Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research or the National Kidney Foundation in Sheila’s memory.
