
Shirley Cecil, 78, of Springboro, Ohio, passed away September 20, 2015 after a brief battle with cancer. Loved by everyone who knew her, Shirley was born in England on October 24, 1936, and lived in the United States for many years. She worked as a dental assistant for a long time before being hired by Montgomery County Jobs and Family Services, where she became a supervisor and from which she retired in 1999. For the past 14 years, she volunteered at the membership desk at the National Museum of the Air Force at Wright-Patterson AFB. Preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Vera Hawkins of England, and her brother Terry Hawkins of Sydney, Australia, Shirley is survived by her loving husband of 15 years, David Cecil, her beloved daughter Michelle (Bob) Dilgard, two sisters Pat (Martyn) Fiddler and Jenny (Steve) Dowler of England, sister-in-law Luna Hawkins of Sydney Australia, and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by stepdaughter, Pat (Dave) Norris, two stepsons, Tom (Sharon) Cecil and Jim (Kim) Cecil, and five wonderful step-granddaughters. A memorial service will be held Thursday, October 1st, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church at 60 E. North St. in Springboro OH. The family will greet visitors at 10 a.m. with the service following at 11 a.m. A luncheon will be provided by the church following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
