Sophie Ann Kirk, age 80, of Beavercreek, Ohio, passed away on July 17, 2026, while attending a church retreat, surrounded by dear friends and members of her faith community. It is a comfort to her family that, in her final moments, she was in a place of fellowship and faith among people who cared deeply for her.
Sophie was born on December 27, 1945, to Frank Botello and Consuelo Molina. She grew up as part of a close family and remained deeply connected to her roots throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clyde E. Kirk, and her sons, Lonnie Kirk and Jeremy Kirk.
Sophie is survived by her children, Lisa Kirk and Jeffrey Kirk and his wife, Colleen; and her daughter-in-law, Gina Kirk, whom she loved as a daughter.
Sophie was a loving grandmother to Miles, Bethany, Josephine, Caroline, Grace, Caleb, Lilly, Hazel, and Gabriel. She was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Jacqueline and Jupiter.
She is also survived by her siblings, Teresa Ellenberger and Francis Cruz of Austin, Texas, as well as her sister-in-law, Virginia Botello, wife of her late brother John, whom Sophie loved as a sister. She was preceded in death by her siblings, John Botello, Anna Hernandez, and Sylvia Botello.
Her Christian faith was at the center of her life. She was a devoted member of Calvary Open Bible Church and was active with Aglow International. She faithfully served others as a spiritual mentor and prayer intercessor, offering encouragement, wisdom, and prayer to many people throughout her life. Her faith was not simply something she spoke about—it was something she lived and shared generously with others.
Sophie also found joy and peace in gardening. Like the plants she lovingly tended, the people around her were strengthened by her patience, care, and nurturing spirit. She will be remembered for her devotion to God, her love for her family, and the spiritual guidance and encouragement she gave so freely.
Her family takes comfort in knowing that her life was rooted in faith and that her legacy will continue through the many lives she touched.
A viewing will be held on Monday, July 27, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Tobias Funeral Home in Beavercreek, Ohio. A Celebration of Life honoring Sophie’s memory will immediately follow. Burial will take place at Byron Cemetery.
