Stephen was born on November 1, 1949, to Jesse and Helen Louise Burger. He was a proud graduate of Stebbins High School and went on to serve honorably in the United States Navy. A devoted public servant, he volunteered as a Riverside firefighter and also served as a referee. Stephen was a fixture at the Immaculate Conception Festival as a beloved brat griller and spent 40 years as a dedicated truck driver for Pickrel Bros.
Stephen was a man who deeply loved his family and friends. He never missed a family event and was always there to lend a hand. He could always be found enjoying gardening, puzzles, Harry Potter books, war movies, OSU football, the Bengals, and any card or board game with family. Though not the best at gambling, he enjoyed the thrill. Stephen loved talking with everyone — friends, family, or strangers — from all walks of life.
He is survived by his mother, Helen Louise Burger, loving wife of 54 years, Connie Darlene Burger; children Nicole Burger (Aaron Manning) and Brandon Burger; grandchildren Autumn Manning, and Jenna Manning; siblings Ken Burger (Richard Vandergriff), Debbie Connett (Steve Connett), and Cheryl Burger; and many treasured nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Stephen was preceded in death by his father, Jesse Burger, and granddaughter Elizabeth Manning.
A faithful son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend, Stephen’s legacy of kindness and dedication to others will live on in all who knew him.
