Stephen Joseph Marsh

Stephen Joseph Marsh ,77, of Beavercreek, Ohio died peacefully after a long battle with cancer on August 10, 2026. He was born on November 14, 1948, in Adams, Massachusetts, the youngest child of Norman A and Merle W Marsh. The family lived in several states before his dad found long term employment as an electrician in New York. He graduated from Woodbury- Monroe High School in 1966 and joined the United States Army on the following Monday. After Basic Training he was sent to the West Point Preparatory School and studied for a year hoping to receive an appointment to West Point. He was not selected so on his leave he went to Washington D.C. and knocked on US Congressmen doors asking for an appointment. Congressman Dow from Central Valley, New York said if he scored high on the College SAT he would give him the appointment. He scored well and reported to West Point for Beast Barricks in July 1968. He met his first wife, Jane Carbone at a West Point Dance in February 1969. They married a week after graduation in 1971 and remained married until her death in 2012. While serving in the Army he was a member of the Airborne Infantry and became a proud Green Beret. He retired from active duty in January 1990. He then worked for the Pentagon retiring again in 2014. In May 2014 he married Barbara Kronenberger LeMaster and after she retired in September 2014 they moved to Beavercreek, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his wife Jane Carbone Marsh, his parents and his brother Richard C Marsh, who was killed during the Vietnam War. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, his daughter Christianne Fisher of Salem, Oregon, his two sons; Richard Marsh (Jessica) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Brian Marsh (Christine) of Owens Cross Roads, Alabama; his brother Michael Marsh of Port Charlotte, Florida; his sister Judy Amburgey of Manhattan, Kansas; three step children, Julia Bey (Bradley) of Beavercreek, Ohio; Daniel (Abe) LeMaster (Lori) of Springboro, Ohio; Mary LeMaster (Christopher Murphy) of Houston, Texas; and four grandchildren: Thomas, Matthew, Faith, and Elizabeth Marsh and four step-grandchildren: Zachary and Eli Bey, and Claire and Elise LeMaster; and the West Point Class of 1971 Company D4 classmates who helped him survive the ardors of West Point and gave him so much support during his cancer journey.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated on August 17, 2026, 11:00 AM at St Helen Catholic Church 605 Granville Place, Riverside, Ohio 45431. He will be buried later next to his first wife at Quantico National Cemetery.
