Theresa Mary Marasco

Theresa Mary Marasco, 84, of Centerville, Ohio, passed away on March 24, 2024, following a courageous battle to recover from a heart attack. Affectionately known as Terry to her friends and family, she was born in 1939 in Buffalo, New York, to the late William and Helen (Karmarczyk) Rutkowski. Theresa's journey began at Immaculata High School and Trocair College School of Nursing, where she earned her BS degree in nursing (RN). Her compassionate spirit shone brightly during her tenure as a surgical nurse at Buffalo General Hospital, where she left an indelible mark on countless lives.

In 1964, Theresa exchanged vows with her beloved husband, Louis Marasco, embarking on a shared life filled with love and cherished memories. Together, they relocated to Centerville in 2008, seeking proximity to family and friends and a respite from the harsh Buffalo winters. Theresa's devotion extended to her role as a dedicated and nurturing mother to Joelle and Peter. She cherished her relationships with their spouses, Steve and Angela, and found immense joy in her role as a proud and adoring grandmother to Simon, Louie, Dominick, and Dominick’s wife, Madeline (Lindley) Bellocchio.

Terry's interests were as varied as they were vibrant. From lively phone conversations and text exchanges with loved ones to the quiet solace found in the pages of a book, she savored each moment. She delighted in intellectual challenges, whether unraveling crossword puzzles or engaging in stimulating word games like Wordle and Wordscapes. An avid sports enthusiast and skilled skier, Theresa embraced these passions alongside her husband, Lou, reveling in the shared experiences they fostered. Known for her warm hospitality and innate ability to entertain, Theresa's gatherings were always a highlight. Her genuine warmth and infectious laughter brought light to every room she entered.

Theresa leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will forever resonate with those who had the privilege of knowing her. She is survived by her children, Peter Marasco and Joelle (Marasco) Bellocchio, along with their families. She was the loving aunt to Tony and Bill Nowicki and their families. Theresa is also survived by her nephews’ families, Tony and his wife Linda Nowicki and their children Lora and Meghan, and Bill and his wife Jenny Nowicki and their children Lainey and Brady. She is also survived by her sisters in law, Mary Schinner and Rosemary Marasco. Theresa is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Louis, her sister Lucille, her niece Anne Marie, and her parents William and Helen.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 am on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at The Church of the Incarnation, 7415 Far Hills Ave., Centerville, Ohio 45459, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am. Private interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Lackawanna, New York.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Incarnation Catholic School (address above) in Theresa's memory.
