Born December 29, 1963 to Robert and Dorothy Moyer, Theresa was the youngest of 6 children. Predeceased by her mother and father and brother Matthew, she is survived by Suzanne (Robert) of Shelby Township, MI, Janine (James) of Columbus, OH, John (Teri) of Centerville, OH, and Joseph (Janice) of Temperance, MI. Also survived by her 6 nieces and nephews and a grandniece and nephew.
Theresa had a 32+ year career in IT with Reed Elsevier (formerly Lexis Nexus). When she was not in front of a computer screen, she donated her time, money, and energy in helping dogs find their forever homes. She volunteered with the Humane Society of Greater Dayton for many years. She probably preferred dogs over people because of the unconditional love she received from them. We lost count of all the dogs Theresa adopted over the years. Only Cali remains, and now resides in Columbus, OH with her cousin Tucker.
She was a fierce Super Scrabble player and no holiday was complete until she let her sister beat her in one or two games. Right now she’s probably up in heaven trying to win a round of International Rummy with her mom.
A big thank you goes out to the medical teams that provided care (especially Dr. Elaine Fogle, her primary care physician, and Dr. Jonathan Forbes, her neurosurgeon). They tried their best, but God had other plans. The family also wants to thank cousins John and Eileen Chlebana, and close friends, Linda Parks and Jodi and Scott Clark, and Pastor Chad who stayed in touch and provided support to Theresa until the very end. Finally we would like to thank all of the kind staff at Old Stage Kennel who provided such wonderful care to her dogs everytime she was hospitalized.
Per Theresa’s wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. Private family service and internment at a later date.
