He also lived in Illinois, upstate New York and Michigan, graduating from Sparta Senior High School, near Grand Rapids in 1986. After graduation, he completed the One Year Course in Biblical Studies at Word of Life Bible Institute in Schroon Lake, New York.
He then joined the United States Military, serving in the Air Force and Air National Guard for 2 years. He also served as a volunteer Firefighter for the city of Kettering-Station 36, from 1997 to 2000. He formed great friendships and love for his community while serving in the department. And he loved when the signal sounded and he got the privilege to respond to a call.
After receiving his Associates Degree from RETS Technical Center in 1994, Tim worked for a few years at Ikon Office Solutions. He then spent the remainder of his career at AT&T. He was a hard-working and loyal professional, working there for the last 26 years. This career fit him perfectly, as he was spending his days working with wires, batteries and all sorts of electronic equipment. He enjoyed this type of work and it provided a way to apply his God-given abilities.
Tim was fun-loving, yet a meek and humble man of few words, an avid reader, and a fan of Michigan football, often yelling “Go Blue” to anyone wearing his team’s colors. He and his family LOVED camping. Whether it was just the family of 4, or the camping friends who are like family, there was always fun to be had. Tim loved providing this fun for his family, taking them out west two times, up to Michigan (Go Blue) several times and hundreds of trips around Ohio.
Tim was a follower of Jesus Christ, placing his faith in Him when he was a young boy. While growing up, he and his family served Jesus together at various churches and at Word of Life Bible Institute. As a grown man, his commitment to Christ continued as he served in the Children’s Ministry of Fairhaven Church with his family for years. More recently, he worshiped and served at First Baptist Church of Kettering. Tim sought ways to serve Christ with his two sons, including chaperoning at church camps and on a mission trip to Canada, as well as coaching his sons’ Upward football and soccer teams. He loved these times where he could be a big kid himself, often making everyone laugh. In addition, he was known for his faithfulness in serving on the tech and sound team for worship services. His desire to serve and not be seen was perfect for this role.
Second only to his love for Jesus, was his love for his family. Tim was a devoted husband to Joy, with whom he shared 26 years of marriage. They met and fell in love while attending Fairhaven Church in 1998 and were married there on September 11, 1999. Friends and family will gather at this same church to celebrate Tim’s life on January 17, 2026. Together they were blessed with two sons, Collin Weir and Jacob Weir who survive. He was an excellent provider to his boys and taught and led them by his example. He always made time for them. When they were young boys, this looked like building sandboxes in the back yard, creeking for crawdads, or snuggling on the couch with piles of children’s books. Above all he was an amazing father.
Tim is also survived by his parents, Jim and Pat Weir; two brothers, Tom (Carrie) Weir and Todd (Miranda) Weir, and a sister, Tammy Toriello, Tim being the ultimate big brother and always protective. Surviving as well, are numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins and his cherished dog and companion, Willy.
Tim was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly Grace, during pregnancy and his in-laws, Bud and Emily Allison.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice, honoring Tim’s generous and compassionate nature.
Funeral services will be held at Fairhaven Church, 637 E. Whipp Rd. on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 11 AM. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery.
Friends are invited to join the family for lunch at Fairhaven Church at 1:00, following graveside services. The family requests that friends and family wear their favorite sports team apparel in honor of Tim’s love for college football rivalries. Go Blue!
