Vern “Lefty” Yeager, age 89 of Beavercreek, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2018 at the Dayton VA Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean (Severson) Yeager in 1980. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Tonnie Mae Yeager, grandson Benjamin Mushalko, brother and sister in law Paul and Katherine Yeager, sister and brother-in-law Effie and Scott Breining, brother and sister-in-law Rev. Leslie and Betty Lou Yeager, sister and brother-in-law Dorothea and Gene Strobel, brother James Yeager and brother-in-law Wallace Zachmeyer. He is survived by his dear friend Nina “Tommie” Millner. Three daughters also survive him: Renee Mushalko and Daniel of Hilliard, Becky Harrison and David of IL, Lynn Lasley of Dayton as does a son, Nevin Yeager of Beavercreek. Three grandchildren also survive him: Tonni-Lynn Lasley, James Harrison and Devon Mushalko, as well as a brother and sister-in-law Jay and Judy Yeager, sister Gladys Zachmeyer, sister-in-law Bonnie Yeager, and numerous nieces and nephews. Vern was a US Army Veteran. He attended and earned degrees from Sinclair College and Urbana University and was a member of Lambda Sigma Tau Fraternity at Sinclair. He was employed as a personnel manager at Hewitt Soap Company and Emery Worldwide. He was a 48-year member of Peace Lutheran Church. Friends may call at the Tobias Funeral Home Beavercreek Chapel, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Rd. from 5-8 PM on Wednesday, March 21, 2018. Funeral services will be held at Peace Lutheran Church, 3530 Dayton-Xenia Rd. Beavercreek, OH 45432 on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 10:30 AM. Interment will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to either the Peace Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or Dayton Honor Flight in Vern’s memory.
