

MOORE, Victor P., age 93 of Dayton, passed away January 12, 2013. He is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth (Ginter) Moore; his parents, Phillip and Marie (Poetker) Moore; his brothers, Lewis, Charles, William, and Roger; his sisters, Nancy (Moore) Smith, and Beulah (Moore) Vollmer. He is survived by one brother, James Moore and his wife Margie of Logan, Ohio; and one sister, Kathryn (Moore) Sharb and her husband Gideon, also of Logan. He is survived by one sister-in-law, Jean Moore of Haydenville, OH as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Victor was born in South Webster, Ohio on November 11, 1919. After serving in the CCC, Victor served in the ARMY AIR CORPS during World War II, in China. He was a radio operator on a C47 that flew cargo in the China, Burma, India theater of war. When asked what their cargo was, he answered very matter of fact, 50 gallon drums of gasoline. Sometimes when flying there would be a blue flame inside the plane. They called it St. Elmo's Fire. He was honorably discharged on October 27, 1945. He was a loving and generous man. We all loved him and will miss him very much. Victor and his wife Ruth loved to travel, and enjoyed going out to eat. He was also a voracious reader and was a regular at the Dayton Belmont Public Library. He kept track of all the books he read, the name of the book and author. Funeral services will be held at 11am, Saturday, January 19, 2013 at TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME- BELMONT CHAPEL 648 Watervliet Ave. at Fauver Ave. The family will receive friends from 10am until the time of services.
