Vivien Corrado, a beloved sister, aunt, and daughter, died peacefully on October 8, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of service, kindness, and love. Born on August 11, 1935, in Utica, NY, she was the youngest daughter of the late Peter V. and Nelda (Rosa) Corrado. She was a graduate of Sauquoit Valley Central High School, Crouse Irving School of Nursing, and Wright State University.
A proud member of the United States Air Force Nurse Corps, Vivien served her country with distinction, attaining the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. She was in one of the first classes for aerospace nursing during the manned space era of the 1960s. She was also an environmental and operating room nurse. During her 25 year military career, she completed tours of duty in the Philippines and several stateside locations, demonstrating a deep commitment to serving her country.
Beyond her military service, Vivien had a deep and abiding passion for art, which she shared with others through her work as a docent at the Dayton Art Institute. She embraced this role with enthusiasm and dedication, immersing herself in the study of art and the artists behind it. She read extensively, exploring the artists’ lives, their inspirations, and the meaning and significance of their work so that she could bring greater depth and understanding to those who visited the museum. For Vivien, being a docent was more than simply presenting works of art; it was an opportunity to help school children see, appreciate, and connect with the stories and ideas expressed through them. Sharing this knowledge with others brought her great joy and reflected her genuine love of learning and discovery.
Her love of faith and community was reflected in her time as a religious education teacher at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, where she helped nurture the faith of young people.
At home, Vivien found happiness tending to the beautiful flower gardens surrounding her home. She took great pride in planting and maintaining her gardens, creating colorful and welcoming spaces that reflected her love of beauty and nature. She also cherished the companionship of her beloved dog, Piérre, and the many cats she lovingly cared for over the years.
While Vivien accomplished much throughout her life, she will be remembered most fondly by her family as a kind and loving daughter, sister, and aunt. Her warmth, compassion, and the love she shared with those closest to her will remain a lasting part of her family’s memories.
Vivien was predeceased by her parents and her eldest sister, Rita (Corrado) Leccese. She is survived by her older sister, Carol Corrado, along with her extended family and all those whose lives she touched.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Luke Catholic Church, 1440 North Fairfield Road, Beavercreek, Ohio on Saturday, October 17, 2026 at 11am.
