ELMORE, Walter L. age 81 of Kettering, passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, June 13th. He is preceded in death by his parents; Bill and MaMe Elmore, brothers; J.W, Frank, and Bobby Elmore, two sons Tim and Kevin Elmore. He is survived by his sister, Elsie Bodner; son, Greg Elmore; grandchildren, Amber Marfio, Brittany Flannery, Jessey Elmore, and Jeremy Elmore; great grandchildren, Julia Elmore, Jack Elmore, Stella Flannery, Callum Flannery and numerous nieces, nephews, family members and loving friends.
Walter was born in Richmond, Kentucky on December 14th, 1937. Walter grew up on his family farm in Crab Orchard, Kentucky where he spent his days working and tending to the farm. It was there that Walter developed his love of horses. As the youngest of five siblings, he was the baby of the family and was cared for by all, especially his big sister, Elsie.
Walter eventually married his first wife, Clara Faye Simpson, and the couple moved to Dayton, Ohio for Walter to start his career and to settle down and create a life together. There, they had sons, Tim and Greg. Soon after, they parted ways and Walter married his second wife and conceived another son, Kevin. Walter worked for many years before retiring from Delphi and ultimately started his own rental property business.
Later in life, Walter enjoyed being with his family and being the center of attention with a love of practical jokes always being done with a wink and a smile. Always the gambler, Walter was known around town as “Lucky” where he could often be found at the local Waffle House flirting and joking with the waiting staff.
