

William F. Blanford, age 94, of Dayton passed away peacefully into the arms of our Lord on Friday, May 21, 2021. He was born on July 10, 1926 in Dayton, Ohio, the son of Charles and Iola (Hetzel), who preceded him in death. Bill was a proud Veteran of the United States Navy and WW2, serving as a Pharmacist’s Mate. He was an active member of the Immaculate Conception Church, St. Vincent De Paul and Knights of Columbus chapter 3730. He was instrumental in founding Hospice at the Dayton VA and volunteered countless hours sharing faith and fellowship as a Eucharistic minister. Bill holds 8 patents that are still in use today.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Norma (Tangeman), his five children: Larry (Lynn), Jerry (Janice), Chris (Betsy), Doug (Linda), Connie McIntyre (Greg). He was also a proud grandfather to twelve grandchildren and seven great – grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to the viewing on Thursday, May 27, 2021, from 9:30 – 10:45 am at Tobias Funeral Home, 648 Watervliet Ave, Dayton, OH 45420. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow promptly at 11:00 am at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 2300 S Smithville Rd, Dayton, OH 45420. Internment will be at Calvary Cemetery, 1625 Calvary Ave, Dayton, OH 45409, following mass.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul: in care of Immaculate Conception Church.
