
Feld, William “Bill” of Beavercreek passed away Sunday, May 3, at Miami Valley Hospital. Bill was born November 20, 1944, in Sandwich, Illinois, the son of Raymond and Mary (Weiss) Feld. Bill graduated with a BS in chemistry from Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa, in 1966, and earned his PhD from the University of Iowa in 1971. After a post-doctoral research position at Notre Dame, he took a job at Wright State University, where he taught Organic Chemistry for over 45 years. Along with extensive publishing, he supervised over 85 Master’s theses. He kept in touch with numerous students all over the world. He held six patents for his battery research and continued consulting, even after his retirement. He was an avid gardener and supplied his students and kids with hot peppers. He loved sharing traveling and sports with Nancy, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes, and the Chicago Cubs. But the greatest delight of his retired life was being “Grandpa” and playing “Ogre” for his two lively grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Nancy (Wedewer), daughter, Laura (Siamak) Rostamabadi, son Adam (Heather) Feld, two grandchildren, Everett and Isabella; his brother, Jim (Terry) Feld, and numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at St. Luke’s Church, Beavercreek, on Thursday, May 14 at 10:30 AM. Preceding the service, there will be a visitation line at the church beginning at 9:30 AM. Burial to follow at Woodland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent De Paul Society.
