William "Bill" Lee Johannes

Born on March 4, 1934, in Byron, Ohio, Bill lived a long and meaningful life marked by love, integrity, hard work, and unwavering devotion to family. Through 92 years of life's joys and challenges, he remained a source of strength, wisdom, and kindness to all who knew and loved him.

Bill graduated from Beavercreek High School in 1954, he was raised and worked on the family farm, served in the U.S. Army as a Private First Class from 1957-1959, and was a Machine Operator at Delphi for 26 years. For over 15 years, Bill, enjoyed Square Dancing where he served as President of the club.

Above all else, Bill was a devoted husband to the love of his life, Jeanette, for 72 years, a loving father to his three children: Debbie (Keith) Holt, Danny (Kim) Johannes, and Doug (Susan) Johannes and a proud grandfather to Jeremy (Janet) Johannes, Jeanette (Sean) Nuessgen, Jennifer (Isaiah) Jones, Josh (Tatum) Johannes, and Jess (Anthony) Lopez, 10 Great-Grandchildren, 1 Great-Great Grandson (and one more on the way). He is survived by his sisters: Jenny Sagers and Martha Jane Beegle, sister-in-law, Nancy Johannes, his brother Rick (Linda) Johannes; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Bill also leaves behind his loyal doggies, Chewie and Precious. Nothing brought him greater happiness than spending time with his family, celebrating life's milestones, and creating lasting memories with those he cherished. His love, guidance, and steady presence will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all that loved him.

Throughout his life, Bill, was known for his strong work ethic, generous heart, and willingness to help others. He was a selfless, Godly, man and was known as everybody's Grandpa. He approached every challenge with quiet determination and treated everyone with dignity and respect. The values he lived by—love, compassion, honesty, and perseverance—will continue to inspire the future generations he has left behind.

Whether enjoying gardening, attending auctions, sharing stories, or simply being surrounded by family, Bill found joy in life's simple blessings. The legacy he leaves behind is one of unconditional love, selflessness, and a life well lived.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Martha Johannes, siblings, Marlene Randall, Imogene Dice, and Ronnie Johannes.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Bill's life on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at Tobias Funeral Home, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Road, Beavercreek, Ohio 45432. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with the funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Burial will immediately follow at Valley View Memorial Gardens, 170 North Valley Road, Xenia, Ohio 45385.

Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we take comfort in knowing Bill is now in the arms of Jesus. The countless memories he leaves behind and the enduring love that will remain with us always. His legacy will live on in his family and in all whose lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
