

RYAN, William Charles, age 83, Washington Township, passed away Sunday, October 28, 2018, surrounded by his loving wife and children. He was born on January 18, 1935 in Defiance, Ohio, the son of Daniel and Leona (Powers) Ryan. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Janet Ryan; two daughters, Kimberley M. Ryan and Denise R. Mason; three sons, William M. Ryan, Kevin C. Ryan, and Timothy W. Ryan; 15 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He served 2 years in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany, graduated from the University of Dayton in 1959, and resided in the Dayton area for more than 60 years. Bill earned his real estate license in 1963. He was a broker/owner of McAfee, Schiller & Ryan Realty (1975-81) and also broker/owner for Better Homes & Garden Real Estate – Big Hill (1981-present). He was very honored to be the first recipient of the Distinguished Career Award given by the Dayton Area Board of Realtors in 2015. He served as President of the Dayton Area Board of Realtors in 1977 and on their Board of Directors from 1979-81. He was honored as Realtor of the Year (1978) and Realtor/Broker of the Year (1979). He received his most recent award on Oct. 25, 2018 for 55 years of service as a Realtor. Bill’s lifelong passions included traveling, reading, fishing, and teaching real estate classes for nearly 30 years. His favorite pastimes were spending time with Janet and being a fun-loving dad and grandfather. He could often be found watching his favorite sports teams the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals, playing euchre or blackjack, telling jokes, stories, and quoting funny lines from his favorite movies. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Incarnation Church, 7415 Far Hills Ave. Centerville, OH 45459 on Monday, November 12, at 10:30 A.M. with a procession to Calvary Cemetery following the Mass.
