He was born in Dayton, Ohio on June 2, 1940, to parents Roland and Florence (Axmann) Steffen who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death was a son, Thomas Arthur Steffen; brother, James (Pat) Steffen; and a sister Joan (Steffen) (Jim) Godfrey.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Karen (Carlson) Steffen; children Christine Steffen and Cynthia (Bryan) Bohanan; two adored grandchildren Flynn and James Bohanan; brother Robert (Marsha) Steffen and several nephews and nieces.
Bill graduated from Chaminade High School, followed by the University of Dayton and received his Master’s Degree from Xavier University. He then worked Quality Control for General Motors transferring to Michigan to finish out his over thirty year career before retiring and enjoying his next phase of life.
Bill loved playing golf, biking and traveling with friends and family. He was an accomplished artist gifted in landscape and wildlife artistry using watercolors, oil, pen and ink. He was known for his joy reflecting in nature, teaching small wisdoms of life and appreciating good food and music. He will be missed by many.
A Celebration of Life gathering of family and friends will take place on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, from 10:00 AM until 11:30 AM at The Enclave of Springboro, 355 W. Central Avenue, Springboro, Ohio. A Celebration of Life service will take place at 11:30 AM at The Enclave with Inurnment of ashes to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
We would like to give a very heartfelt thank you to the caring and loving staff at The Enclave of Springboro and at Day City Hospice who made the last leg of Bill’s earthly journey as peaceful as can be.
