
TALMAGE, William H., age 81, passed away at Bethany Village Linden House Tuesday, June 19 2012. Bill was a resident of Miami Township. He was born in Chicago, IL on August 12, 1930, the only child of John H and Thelma Dillon Talmage; both of whom died when Bill was 19 years if age. Bill is survived by his wife of 41 years, Wanda G. Talmage, three daughters; Carol(Charles)Johnson, Linda Jackowski, and Deborah(Jeffrey)Hurley; grandchildren Shayne(Holly)Henry, Bob(Jesse)Jackowski, and Mackenzie Hurley; and great-grandchildren David and Christopher Williams, Emma and Madelynn Jackowski, and Aden Henry, all reside in the Dayton area. He was preceded in death by granddaughter Kristen Jackowski Williams. Bill is also survived by four stepchildren; Dr. Gregory(Dr. Phoebe Chiang)Berger of East Lyme, CT., Jeffrey Berger of San Jose, CA., Nancy(Peter)Johnson of Augusta, GA., and Valerie(James)McKinney of Princeton, NJ., step-grandchildren; Mitchell and Ellen McKinney, and Rachel and David Johnson. Bill was educated in Chicago public schools until his family moved to Canton, OH., in January 1943. He graduated in 1947 from Lehman High School in Canton where he was president of Lehman’s Senior Class. He attended Kent State University on scholarship where he graduated in 1951 with a BA degree, summa cum laude. He then attended Case Western Reserve University Law School on a scholarship, where he graduated in 1953 with an LLB degree and was awarded the Order of the Coif. He spent two years on active duty in the United States Army 1953-1955. Most of that period was spent as a non-military subject’s instructor at the Army’s Transportation School in Ft. Eustis, VA. Following separation from military duty, Bill was employed by a private practice law firm in Cleveland which later became a part of Baker Hostetler Law Firm. He joined the Legal Department of the National Cash Register Company (NCR Corp.) January 1966, and served as head of various sections of that department handling diverse involvements in fields of antitrust, securities, corporate and facilities financing, international regulations, real estate and environmental laws. He retired from NCR in February 1993. Bill was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. The family wishes to thank the caring members of the Hospice of Dayton for their love and concern for Bill in his final days. Memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at the Christ United Methodist Church 3440 Shroyer Rd. Kettering, OH 45429; with Pastor Barry de Schetler officiating.
