Zada Ruth Pitstick, 87, born November 11, 1932 went home to Heaven Friday, September 18th, 2020 at home with family. She had a long life of faith, love and encouraging others over coffee, good discussions and baking amongst other creative talents. Zada was the 7th child of a 7th child, born to her Mother Della Estella Welch and Father Lonnie Arthur Welch, who was a well-known Jeweler in Harlan, KY. She came from a family of thirteen. She has gone home to a family reunion with Herman Welch, John Welch, Milton Welch, Boyd Lee Welch, Lonnie Jr. Welch, Julian Welch, Irene Walker and Leona Hillerich. Her surviving sisters are Clara Sutton, Roberta Hull, Frieda Harp and Brenda Moore. She was dearly loved by her siblings and family. Her Father owned Welch’s Manufacturing Jewelry Store. Zada helped him repair watches and worked with him in his store growing up.
Zada always made people feel like they were the most important person in the room. With fervent focus, you felt loved, cherished and took the warmth of her love with you.
Zada had three children with husband Robert Smith: Melody Kelley, David Smith and Elizabeth Ford who all reside in Xenia, Ohio. Her grandchildren are Kevin Ellison, Michelle Ispold, & Amanda Elrod. Her great grandchildren are Aria Elrod and Kauner Earley. When Robert Smith passed away in 1976, she married Kenneth Pitstick and shared many years of happiness until he passed away in 1995. She enjoyed arts, travel and crafts of all kinds. Zada won many ribbons at the fair for her art, including Best of Show. She was an incredible mother, artist, conversationalist, baker, and friend. She now knows the answers to all the mysteries she loved to ponder over coffee. Zada will be missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing her. She was a one of a kind, as unique as her name which means fortunate huntress. She was Zada Ruthaford’s namesake, a neighbor dearly beloved by her mother. Her favorite passage was, Isaiah 55:12, “For you shall go out with joy, and be led out with peace; The mountains and the hills Shall break forth into singing before you, And all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.”
She loved everyone and wanted everyone to love each other.
