Samuel Floyd Townsend

Mr. Townsend, 94, died at his residence on October 8, 2015. He lived in Scooba where he owned and operated Townsend Cleaners for 35 years. He was also a member of the Lions Club and served as a board member for East Mississippi Community College.

Mr. Townsend is survived by his daughter, Janet Watt and her husband, Ernie; nephew, Kenneth Townsend and two nieces, Mary J. Nelson and Jo Gully.

Mr. Townsend is also survived by a host of great nieces and nephews, as well as great-great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Mrs. Myrtle Hudnall Townsend; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis and Elizabeth Townsend; three brothers, Mr. Henry “Jack” Townsend and wife Polly, Francis Townsend and wife Mildred and Albert “Butch” Townsend; one niece, Ms. Frances Anderson and husband Jerry.

Pallbearers: Marvin Bryan, Albert Gully, Jason Gully, Jerry Nelson, Ed Boyd, Bill Johnston, Willie B. McDonald and Darren Taylor.

Honorary Pallbearers: Ken Waddell, T.L. Cloar and George Welch.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Stephens Funeral Home in Dekalb.
