We acknowledge the death of Addie Elizabeth Taylor, 97, of Decatur on Friday, May 16, 2014. An exceptional teacher, a superb gardener, an extraordinary cook, Addie will be most fondly remembered and sorely missed.She was the wife of John Alexander Taylor, deceased; mother of Barbara Molliston of Talladega, Beth Taylor of Huntsville and John Taylor Jr. of Fayetteville, Tenn; grandmother to Laynee Kontos of Destin, Fla. and Brad Mitchell of Birmingham; and great-grandmother to Caroline Mitchell and Mary Brennan McWilliams. Addie's sister, Louise Parrish of Montgomery survives her.Addie was born in Brantley, Ala. and educated at Troy and Auburn. While teaching elementary school in Roanoke, she met her husband-to-be. When he returned from service in World War II, they moved to Limestone County and then to Decatur in 1963. She was a member of Grant Street Church of Christ for over 70 years.Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 19, 2014, at Grant Street Church of Christ, 240 Grant Street, SE, Decatur. Visitation with the family will precede the service at 1 p.m. Mike King will officiate, assisted by Alan Watkins with Roselawn Funeral Home directing. Musicians, Elizabeth Clark and Jeffrey Rich; pallbearers, Brad Mitchell, Jim Manring, David Parrish, Jimmy Parrish, Bobby Prescott and Brett Tisdale. Interment will be at Roselawn Cemetery, 741 Danville Road, SW, Decatur, immediately following the service.Addie's family would like to thank everyone for their many kindnesses. If you wish, feel free to remember her with a memorial to Grand Street Church of Christ or to the charity you prefer. We, however respectfully ask that there be no flowers.
