Funeral service for Brenda Ann Martin Marks, 73, of Decatur will be Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with Dallas Culver officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, April 21, 2014, from 5 to 8 p.m.Mrs. Marks who died Friday April 18, 2014, at Decatur Morgan Hospital was born March 25, 1941, in Alabama to Gordon Freeman Martin and Hazel Dean "Buttercup" Martin. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Marshall Barry Martin.Mrs. Marks touched many lives as a teacher in the Morgan County and Decatur City School Systems for 35 years. After retiring in 1997, she continued her service to others through numerous church functions and by volunteering with Hospice of the Valley. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Red Hat Society and the Morgan County Education Retirees Association. She was a blessing to all who knew her and will be greatly missed.Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Gerald W. Marks; daughters, Deana Olinger (Tim), Mindi Jo Culver (Tom), all of Decatur; brothers, Larry Martin of Trinity, Jim Martin of Decatur; grandchildren, Cassie Culver, Chandler Culver, Libby Ann Olinger, Mollie Olinger; great-grandchildren, Jayden McBay and Aubrie Culver.Pallbearers will be Tim Martin, Patrick Martin, Clay Martin, Daniel Burnes, Michael Stetler, Greg Barnes, Alan Crawford, Steve Stovall and Tommy Blankenship.Honorary pallbearers are R. B. Roberts Sunday School Class of Austinville United Methodist Church.In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to Hospice of the Valley.
