Carlton was born to Richmond and Magdelene Moore of Red Bay, AL on March 4, 1945. He met his love, Becky, in the laundry room at their apartment complex in Memphis and together they enjoyed 54 years and two beautiful daughters. He was a skilled mechanical engineer and draftsman, specializing in piping design, and worked in several different states before settling in Decatur where he was employed by Amoco and later HCS Engineering. He retired from HCS in 2009, and he and Becky sold their house and most of their belongings to pursue a huge dream of living on their boat and becoming “loopers” – circumnavigating the eastern United States by boat on a yearlong adventure.
In addition to being an avid boater, Carlton was a big fan of Corvettes, owning several in his lifetime, and of the Alabama Crimson Tide. He embarked on any undertaking with the most meticulous attention to detail. His workshop was immaculate, his upkeep of his vehicles was exhaustive and exceptional, and his Bloody Marys recipe was pure science. He was a social butterfly and loved getting together with friends. He made sure everyone was well-fed and well-hydrated especially at tailgating parties for the Tide. He was a wonderful husband and father and always made sure to express his love and how proud he was of his family and friends.
Carlton is survived by his loving wife, Becky Moore; his favorite oldest daughter, Michelle Woodall of Bowling Green, KY and her husband, Jimmy Woodall, and his favorite youngest daughter, Heather Moore of High Point, NC and her partner, Jason Blackwood; grandson Warren Woodall and granddaughter Reagan Woodall.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his beloved only brother, Kelly Moore of Red Bay, AL.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 25, 3-5pm at Roselawn Funeral Home, and the family also invites you to join them for a celebration of life at 5:30pm following visitation, at The Railyard, 209 2nd Ave. SE in Decatur. In his advanced directives, he requested that people were “having a good time and being happy” so we intend to do just that, sharing funny stories and good memories, and sending Seamoore off into a beautiful sunset.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of the Valley, P.O. Box 2745, Decatur, AL 35602.
