
Clifford James Webster, 92, of Pensacola, Florida, died Wednesday, April 24, 2013, in Pensacola. He was born in Washington, DC on October 4, 1920, to the late Emanuel Orsemus Webster and Phoebe Belle Clifford Webster.
He was a graduate of Dry Ridge High School (Class of 1937), Transylvania University, and the University of Kentucky. He was employed as an industrial chemist by Chemstrand Corp. (later Monsanto Co.) in Pensacola and Decatur prior to retirement in 1982. He was a member of the American Chemical Society for 53 years.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Signal Corps and served in the Southwest Pacific in World War II, as well as at Ft. Monmouth, New Jersey during the Korean Conflict.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Juanita Hanson Vice Webster. Survivors include daughters, Deborah K. Webster of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and Marcia W. Reese (Charles A.) of Pensacola, Florida, and grandchildren, Susannah N. Reese (Ethan Chessin) of Portland, Oregon, and Tyler Webster Reese of Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
Clifford resided in Decatur for over 40 years; he was a faithful and active member of the First Christian Church in Decatur, where he served as deacon and elder. Clifford and his wife moved back to Pensacola in 2008. In his later years, he enjoyed reading on his Kindle, watching movies on his computer, and attending the weekly Men's Breakfast at First Presbyterian Church with his son-in-law. He was a source of quiet strength for his family and will be dearly missed by his family and by old and new friends alike.
A graveside service will be held at Hill Crest Cemetery in Dry Ridge, Kentucky, on May 4, 2013.
