
Connie Davis Sheats Knight, 96, formerly of Decatur, passed away in Florence on Sunday, September 22, 2013. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at Roselawn Funeral Home from 1 to 1:45 p.m. Graveside service will follow in Roselawn Cemetery at 2 p.m.
Connie was born in Lawrence County on January 2, 1917. She was a member of Austinville United Methodist Church and a former member of Memorial Drive Methodist Church. She worked at Alabama Hosiery Mill in Decatur during World War II. After retiring from Shelby Electric in Memphis, she returned to Decatur in 1993. She was a resident at Mitchell Hollingsworth Nursing Home from December 2005 until her death.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Grover Cleveland Sheats and Annie Pearl Sheats of Lawrence and Morgan counties. Others preceding her include her late husband, William Tracy Knight Sr.; her son, William Tracy Knight Jr. (Dicky); sister, Mildred Sheats Garnett; brother, John Thomas Sheats; nephews, Percy Fenell Garnett and William Tuell Garnett; and niece, Brenda Garnett Cooper.
Survivors include nieces, Martha Garnett Russell and Dr. Joanne Reeves Garnett of Florence; nieces, Paula Garnett Russell and Betty Free Garnett of Decatur. She is also survived by numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to express our sincere thanks and gratitude to the wonderful staff on Station Six at Mitchell Hollingsworth for their care, concern, and love for Aunt Connie. She was a loving mother, sister, and special "Aunt Connie." Her family will always cherish her musical talent on the piano and organ. She will be greatly missed by all. Everyone will miss hearing her say, "I love you."
