Dean Hamilton Moore, 62, of Decatur passed away Sunday, July 24, 2011, at UAB Hospital. He was born December 31, 1948, in Austin, Texas, to the late Robert Wilson Moore and Julia Simpson Moore.
Dean graduated from A.G. Parrish High School in Selma. He served in the Alabama National Guard and in the U.S. Army with an honorable discharge. Dean began his career in the restaurant business in Tuscaloosa at Clancy McCue's in 1979 then moved on to Destin, Fla., and Kemah, Texas. He ended up in North Alabama in 1984 moving to Decatur in 1986 to start up Simp McGhee's where he remained for 25 years.
He is survived by one son, Julian Simpson Moore (Nicole); one brother, Robert Moore of Tuscaloosa; one sister, Nancy Moore of Northport; and granddaughter, Eliza Estrada Moore.
Family and friends will be received Saturday, July 30, 2011, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Simp McGhee's, 725 Bank Street, Decatur, immediately following will be a bonfire service. Directions will be provided. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, July 31, 2011, from 5 to 1`0 p.m. at The Brick Deli, Moulton Street, Decatur.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Community Free Clinic.
