Delphine was born in Decatur on August 21, 1938. Her parents were Leonard and Minnie French. She had a younger brother, Gary French. She was raised up in Decatur and lived out her entire life here. She was a 1956 graduate of Austinville School. After High School, she attended Business School in Decatur. After Business School, she worked for a local bank. She met Marvin Waugh Jr. in 1962, and after a courtship they were married on December 26, 1962. In November, 1965 she went to work at Gobble-Fite Lumber Company. On December 5, 1965 she gave birth to a son, Michael. On December 7, 1973 she gave birth to a daughter, Rebecca.
Delphine was very loving, loyal, and devoted to all of her family and friends. She was a woman of faith in Jesus Christ. She had a strong sense of empathy for those who were sick or suffering. She had a group mentality in many of her activities and really enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She went out of her way to routinely visit with family and friends throughout her life. She was somewhat shy by nature, and the bonds she made with others tended to be strong. She had several friends who she remained close with for decades, some going back to High School. She enjoyed her work and the people she worked with at Gobble-Fite Lumber Company, and she remained there for 46 years, retiring in 2011. Delphine will be sorely missed by all those who knew her.
Delphine was preceded in death by her parents and her brother.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, her son, her daughter, four grandchildren: Daniel Jenkins, Amanda Waugh-Roberts, Hunter Moore, and Meagan Moore, and six great-grandchildren: Kelsey Jenkins, Kaylee Webb, Avery Webb, Cody Jenkins, Brodie Moore, and Rowan Simpson
