He is also survived by six cherished great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Suggs; his mother, Julia Price Suggs Crawford; and his stepfather, Cecil Crawford.
Donald was born in 1936, the only child of Julia Price Suggs, on the second floor of the Price Home Place in Priceville, Alabama. After the tragic loss of his father in 1939, he was lovingly raised by his mother at the Price Home Place, surrounded by his grandparents, uncles, aunts, and cousins. He graduated from Morgan County High School in 1954 and went on to attend Jacksonville State University.
Throughout his life, Donald exemplified dedication and perseverance. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family, culminating in a 40-year career at Monsanto, from which he retired in 1996. Retirement did not slow him down; he partnered with his longtime friend Bill O'Brien to establish Container Recycling, Inc. (CRI), where he worked for another 20 years. Later, he continued to serve his community by working as a delivery driver for Bendall's Pharmacy until his health no longer permitted.
Donald faced life's challenges with unwavering faith and resilience, drawing strength from his deep belief in God's love and grace. He was a charter member of Priceville United Methodist Church and a devoted member of Austinville United Methodist Church for 45 years.
He was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, and a friend to all who knew him. His legacy of faith, service, and love will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons: Dustin, Joshua, Adam, Jess, Matt, and Ethan.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Austinville United Methodist Church.
