Graveside service for Dorothy Louise Milam Julich, 99, of Decatur will be today, May 31, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Formby officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service.
Mrs. Julich, who died May 28, 2011, at Decatur Health and Rehab, was born January 1, 1912, to Eugene Milam and Perkins Stroup Milam. She was a lifelong member of Central United Methodist Church. She was state President of Alabama BPW and International Vice President of BPW. She was also a member of Colonial Dames, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Daughters of the American Revolution, and authored the Book Revolutionary War Soldiers in Alabama, a copy of which is in the Library of Congress in Washington D.C. As a Licensed Genealogist, she did research for families across the nation and foreign countries. She was recently awarded the Elmer Minter award for 2010 by the Morgan County Genealogical Society. She retired as Administrative Assistant to the Deputy Commander of the Army Missile Command in Huntsville. She also wrote a column titled "Southern Kinfolks" for The Decatur Daily, Hartselle Enquirer, and The Decatur Free Press.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jule M. Julich; son, William L. Roberts; and grandson, David Paul Julich.
She is survived by two sons, Dr. Paul M. Julich (Pat) of Indialantic, Fla., and Marvin M. Julich (Nancy) of Decatur; one daughter-in-law, Daphne Roberts; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Pallbearers will be grandsons.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Central United Methodist Building Fund or the Central Baptist Church Building Fund.
