

Eloise Riethmaier Bennett, 85, of Decatur, passed away on September 3, 2014, at Decatur Morgan Hospital after a brief illness. Funeral services will be Friday, September 5, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Sandra Godbey and Reverend Marvin McCormick officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Bennett was born October 9, 1928, in Morgan County to WM and OraLee Riethmaier. She was a retiree of the telephone company with 42 years of service and a member of Telephone Pioneers, Decatur Emblem Club, American Legion Auxiliary, Wesley Memorial Methodist Church and charter member of Tuesday Night Bridge Club. She was also a "Devoted Grandmother and lifelong Auburn supporter." She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jack Riethmaier and grandson, Christopher Bennett.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Thomas A. Bennett; son, Larry T. Bennett; daughter-in-law, Deborah H. Bennett and granddaughter, Lauren W. Bennett, all of Atlanta, GA.
Active pallbearers will be Blake Mitchell, Charles Butler, Berval Bennett, Michael Butler, Waymon King and Ray Nixon.
Honorary pallbearers will be Leroy Driggers, James Dietz, Ewell Russell, Bob Tucker, Johnny Tuten and Ashley Bennett.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. Jeffrey Johnson, Decatur Morgan Hospital fourth floor nurses and staff, and Hospice of the Valley for their warm and sincere support.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Decatur Meals on Wheels or favorite charity.
