

Freida was fun-loving and known for her laughter, beautiful blue eyes, warm smile, and caring nature. She graduated from Tanner High School and was first married to the late Billy Mason Whitten, with whom she shared 37 years and two beloved children. She later found love again and is survived by her husband of 19 years, Bruce Shaw of Birmingham.
She is survived by her son, Sandy Whitten (Jennifer) of Birmingham, AL; her daughter, Nikol Jones of Madison, MS; her cherished grandson, Will Whitten, and her great-grandson, Josue Ramirez.
She was preceded in death by her parents, J.R. and Pauline Sandy, and her three sisters, Geraldine McLemore, Paulette Taylor, and Jennifer Chace, and her granddaughter, Nayeli Betsadia Whitten.
Freida spent over 30 years in the telecommunications industry, beginning as an operator back when operators were required to connect calls. Through dedication and hard work, she advanced to the role of Corporate Trainer, where she helped train the region in E911 systems.
After retirement, Freida continued to live life to the fullest. She loved to travel, visit friends, and stay active in her church and community. She lived her entire life in Alabama, surrounded by the people and places she loved most.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 27, at Roselawn Funeral Home. Family visitation will take place from 1:00–2:00 PM, followed by general visitation from 2:00–3:00 PM, with the service and graveside to follow.
