Gloria Elizabeth Smith

Born in Trenton, New Jersey on November 20, 1937, Gloria lived in New Jersey most of her life. She moved to Decatur, Alabama in 1973 where she lived and worked at 3M. After retiring in 1993 she moved back to New Jersey to be close to her first grandchild, Lauren. Gloria returned to Decatur in 2015.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, John and Betty Ceremsak, her son, William John, and her husband, Billy Jack Smith.

Gloria is survived by her brother Ronald Ceremsak (Connie), her nephew Darryl Ceremsak, and her most precious gift, her children Denise Stauffenberg (Dan), David Schmidt (Nancy), and Dureen Norris (Terry).

Gloria often said her greatest gift were her grandchildren, Lauren Stauffenberg, Austin (Bub) Stauffenberg, Morgan Schmidt Prime (Euan), Andrew (Drew) Schmidt, Meghan Norris Skaggs (Sam), Kiley Norris, and Sara Norris Akihiro (Cal).

Gloria was also blessed with five great grandchildren Judah Skaggs, Ezekiel (Zeke) Skaggs, Ezra James Skaggs (Ezzi) Skaggs, Livia Alicea, Ace Alicea, and soon to be Miller Akihiro.

Gloria left a legacy of love for her family and friends. She will be greatly missed and forever cherished.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025, 11:00 am at Roselawn Funeral Home, Decatur, AL.
