Helen Ruth Gilbert, 88, of Decatur died Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at her residence. She was born January 9, 1926, in Calhoun, Tennessee, to Hubert and Sallie Staton. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Edna Von Boeckman and Lois Brooks.Helen graduated from Scottsboro High School and attended Athens College. She went on to sell real estate, and then became an antique dealer, and opened Helen's Collectibles.Mrs. Gilbert is survived by her husband of 70 years, Macon H. Gilbert; one daughter, Dagny Wright (Glenn); five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Donna Rush (Buddy).Funeral will be Friday, January 17, 2013, at 11 a.m. at First Christian Church with Dr. Cameron Douglas officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. A graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. in Athens City Cemetery.
