Helen Alene Grant

Helen Alene Cheatham Grant, 95, passed away Thursday, October 25, 2012, at Summerford Nursing Home. Graveside services will be Monday, October 29, 2012, at 11 a.m. in Roselawn Cemetery with Brother Hal Daigre and Brother Allen Queen officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Grant was born September 6, 1917, in Lawrence County to Hurley Dennis Cheatham and Josie Waugh. She was a retired nurse's assistant at Medical Park Convalescent Center, member of First Independent Methodist Church and an avid quilter. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 66 years, William Robert Grant; brother, Hurley Dennis Cheatham Jr; and sister, Sarah Owen.

She is survived by three daughters, Barbara Knickman of The Villages, Florida, Brenda Jarrett of Sidney, Ohio and Diane (James) Wade of Decatur; one sister, Frances Tedford of Ypsilanti, Michigan; four grandchildren, Edward Knickman IV, Robert Knickman, Charles William (Chuck) Jarrett and Helen Rebecca Leonard; and three great-granchildren, Devon Jarrett, Jarrett Kerrigan and Jenna Jarrett.

Pallbearers will be Chuck Jarrett, Jarrett Kerrigan, Donald Curbow and Ernest Poole.
