His visitation will be on Wednesday afternoon from 1p.m. until 3 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home. His funeral service will begin at 3 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mr. Jett is survived by his daughter Kim Barrett, granddaughter Kyrstin Barrett and grandson Logan Barrett, sisters, Flora Nell Gregg(Joe), and Glenda Thompson, brother Eugene Jett(Linda) and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife Bobbie Jean Jett, son, Hoyt Lee Jett Jr., and grandson Alexander Trey Barrett, and nine brothers and sisters.
Mr. Jett loved all of his family and was a kind and gentle man, hardly ever even raising his voice. He was a member of Decatur Baptist Church for 50+ years.
He served his country in the National Guard and retired as a Staff Sargeant in August of 1999. He also retired from the Alabama Department of Transportation, where he worked as a Civil Engineer. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
The family wishes to express thanks to all the staff at Alacare Hospice for their kindness and compassion shown to Hoyt. And to Debbie Kilpatric for the kind service as his caregiver.
