

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Linda Winslett and his beloved son, John “Paul” Allred.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Michael Sean and Amber Walker Allred; grandchildren, Ashtyn and Warren Allred; sister, Gloria Barr of Opelika, AL, and many children he mentored.
James was a passionate advocate for children of abuse and neglect. Known as “Pop Allred” throughout Alabama, he made a positive impact on the lives of many children during his career with the Alabama Sheriffs’ Boys and girls ranches. After his retirement, James enjoyed another career at Wal-Mart in Decatur, Alabama, where he spent 19 years as a dedicated associate in sporting goods. James was a wonderful dad, pop, father-in-law, brother, and papaw. He loved corny jokes, sarcasm, gambling, wrestling, and Auburn football. He was loved by many and will be deeply missed.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday June 25th at 10:00 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home in Decatur, Alabama.
