James Edward Ayers, 84, of Decatur passed away Sunday, November 13, 2011. A private family service will be held.
Mr. Ayers was born October 2, 1927, in Belgreen to Paul and Ella Ayers. He retired from Delphi Saginaw in Athens. He was an avid fisherman and loved the outdoors. He was preceded in death by four brothers, PJ, Curtis, Mayburn and Bud Ayers; one sister, Anna Rutherford; his previous wife, Maxine Shotts Ayers; and one son, Rick Ayers.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Janie Pepper Turner Ayers; one son, Randy Ayers of Russellville; two daughters, Liz Salcido and husband, Mike, and Charlotte Carter and husband, Bob; two stepsons, Jamie Turner of Decatur and Ron Turner of Hazel Green; one sister, Ruby Graham of Illinois; five grandchildren, Sherri, Cindi, Tanisha, Shiloh and Zeke; four stepgrandchildren, Chris, Tyler, Brandon and Bethany; one great-grandchild, Mason Cole Turner; and three great-great-grandchildren.
