

James L. Herren (Jim), 93, of Decatur, was an engineer/cattleman born in Haleyville, AL to Willie M. and Era Dean Tedder Herren.
His visitation will be on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at The First United Methodist Church in Decatur. His Celebration of Life service will begin at 11:00 AM.
He was an Auburn University Alumnus, U.S. Army veteran and long-time resident of Decatur, AL. He retired from Wolverine Tube after 40 years in various engineering positions. He was credited with 3 patents. He was an active member of Decatur First United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the City of Opportunity Civitan Club, National and Alabama Professional Engineering Society, Alabama Cattlemen's Association, American Legion and the Point Mallard Golf Association. He never hit from the senior tees. He also worked for Habitat Humanity and T.V.O.
He is survived by his wife, Gail Yarbrough Herren, just short of 69 years of marriage. He is also survived by his daughter, Dawn Herren McCulley (Brant) of Huntsville, AL and son, Clark Herren (Lisa) of Decatur, AL; two granddaughters, Ivy McCulley Honeycutt (Chris) of Huntsville, AL and Callie Herren (Drew McPherson) of Hartselle, AL and his older sister, Billie Dean Herren Kachelman, Florence, AL.
