James Lemuel Morris, 80, of Decatur, passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 2018. A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 3:00 pm at Roselawn Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Jenkins officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm until 2:45 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mr. Morris is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marjorie McKinney Morris; his favorite daughter, Terry Morris Priest (favorite son-in-law Anthony) of Decatur; brother, Charles Morris (Rosa) of Savannah, TN.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Lucille Morris of Waynesboro, TN; and brother, Edward Morris of Toledo, OH.
Mr. Morris was a long time member of Southside Baptist Church, but at the time of his death he was a member of First Baptist Church, Decatur. He enjoyed traveling, car shows and car races, but mainly enjoyed being with family and friends telling his stories and travel adventures. He always said the best thing he ever did was marrying Marjorie, whom he lovingly cared for, especially over the past five years during her illness. One of the most exciting things he ever did was getting the chance to ride in a NASCAR around the Talladega Speedway.
A Special Thanks to USA Decatur Health and Rehab for loving him for the past five years as he sat daily with Marjorie, and for caring for him in his final days.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
