James served in the US Army during the Korean War. After the war, he went to work in retail where he continued to serve the public. One of those places was the Volunteer Center of Morgan County, where he made a huge impact. One of his favorite past times was watching the Atlanta Braves play baseball. He also enjoyed watching Alabama play football, although everyone knew he was a closet Auburn fan. He was the oldest and very faithful member of River City Baptist Church in Decatur, AL. However, most of all he was a mighty prayer warrior and a great witness for Jesus Christ.
