James Roberts

James Roberts passed away Tuesday evening in Birmingham at the age of 78. Mr. Roberts was born October 23, 1936 in Cullman, AL. Mr. Roberts was retired from Wolverine Tube after 20+ years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Decatur. He enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, country music, cars and family BBQs.

Mr. Roberts is survived by his wife of 60 years, Laverne Roberts; Children, Jimmy Roberts (Renee), Cindy Roberts Moses (Phillip); Grandchildren, Spring Atkins (Dustin), James Roberts (Ana), Lauren, Alex, McKenzie Moses; Great Grandchildren, Cooper Atkins and Benjamin Roberts; Two brothers, Horace Roberts (Carolyn) and Jerry Roberts (Sandra); Two beloved pets, Angel and Great Grand Dog Owen “Otis”.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 2, 2015 from 12:30 until 2:00 pm in the Stephenson Chapel at First Baptist Church. Following the visitation a Celebration of Life Service will take place at 2:00 pm. The service will be officiated by Bro. Roger Jenkins and under the direction of Roselawn Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be John Ivy, Jimmy Roberts, Kevin Terry, Dustin Atkins, James Roberts, Josh Roberts, Bill Lay and Terry Lay. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Jim Odom Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church.

The family would like to give special thanks to the nurses and staff at UAB Hospital and Optum Hospice Care Suites.
