

James “Jim” Wallace Shouse
July 8, 1939 – September 10, 2025
James “Jim” Wallace Shouse, age 86, passed away on September 10, 2025. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose life was marked by integrity, kindness, and faith.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Jo Carolyn (Flowers) Shouse; sons James Kevin (Chris) Shouse of Omaha, NE, and Philip Lee Shouse of Nashville, TN; grandsons Erik and Alex Shouse of Omaha, NE; sisters Louise, Helen, and Lynette; sisters-in-law Leda and Monica; and many loving cousins, nephews, and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Ruby (Senter) Shouse; brother, Vernon; and his sister-in-law, Paula Jordan.
Jim dedicated much of his career to Goodyear, where he served in production across multiple U.S. facilities and traveled internationally to China and Mexico for work assignments. He was a recognized expert in plant start-ups and was honored five times as a Top Ten Supervisor and twice with the prestigious Goodyear Spirit Award. His strong work ethic and leadership left a lasting impact on his colleagues.
From 1957 to 1964, Jim proudly served in the Army Reserve National Guard. He was a passionate college football fan, especially of the Nebraska Cornhuskers, and a faithful member of Unity Baptist Church in Decatur, AL. Known for his honesty, grace, and willingness to help others, Jim lived a life rooted in love for his family and devotion to Jesus.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Reed, Steve Cook, Donnie Morris, Gary Thornton, Randy Cole, and Joey Letson.
In lieu of flowers, Jim requested that donations be made to Unity Baptist Church in Decatur, AL.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 16th from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home at 741 Danville Road SW, Decatur, AL 35601 followed by a brief funeral service.
