Jessie Mike Sloan

Funeral for Jessie Mike Sloan, 77, of Decatur will be today, September 2, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Gary Webster officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery in Athens. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Sloan, who died Wednesday, August 31, 2011, at Decatur General Hospital, was born March 6, 1934, in Limestone County to the late Jessie B. Sloan and Virginia Harold Sloan. He was a member of Community South Church of God. He owned and operated Mike Sloan Realty in Decatur and had worked at Worthington Steel in Decatur. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Wanda Sharp Sloan; two daughters, Melea Jill Sloan and Mahala Kaye McLachlan; and two sisters, Loma V. Sloan and Christine Sloan Nunnelly.

Survivors include one son, Clayton Dawson Sloan (Tina); one daughter, Twyla Anne Sloan; and five grandchildren, Jonathan Ryan McLachlan, Anne Katherine Sloan, Sean David McLachlan, Jennifer Hill and Kevin.

Pallbearers will be Bryce McCreless, Mason Miller, Stanley Martin, Garvin Ficklin, Billy Rye, John Barnette and Rick Sharp.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully request memorials be made to Meals on Wheels of Morgan County or to Community South Church of God Youth Fund.
