Born July 31, 1921, Jimmie Dean Counts was raised in Mount Hope, AL. After attending Florence Teachers College (now The University of North Alabama), she moved to Decatur for a job with the State of Alabama Employment Service. It was in Decatur that she met her future husband of 50 years, Jimmy Hambrick; the two married on April 2, 1948. Jimmie Dean was a resident of Riverside Assisted Living for the past 10 and a half years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy, and 1 grandson (Robert Hambrick). She is survived by her 3 children – Mike (Ceda) Hambrick, of Florence; John Hambrick, of Powder Springs, GA; and Suzann Bishop, of Huntsville. She is survived by 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
A private, family graveside service was held at Roselawn Cemetery on August 17, 2018, followed by a celebration of life with the residents of Riverside.
The Hambrick family would like to thank the entire Riverside staff and family, as well as the wonderful Hospice of the Valley caregivers for the love, support, and friendship they provided Jimmie Dean.
