Jo Ann Harvey

Jo Ann Harvey, 85, of Decatur, passed away on Monday, May 1, 2023. Visitation will be on Saturday, May 13, 2023, from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at Annunciation of the Lord Catholic Church Columbarium with Rick Chenault officiating. She will be laid to rest at the columbarium next to her husband, George Harvey.

Jo Ann is survived by her son, George E. Harvey; granddaughters, Jennifer Tolbert (Andrew) and Allison Evans (Glenn); sister, Beth Carmichael; caregivers, Bryanna Hicks and Susan Pinckley.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Harvey and parents, John and Annie Short.

Jo Ann graduated from Samford University with a teaching degree. She went on to be a teacher at Decatur High and St. Ann Catholic School. Upon retiring from teaching, she began her nonprofit work as the Director of Rebuilding Together. She spend her life giving to others and always had the perfect answer for everything. She was a wonderful person to be around and taught by. She will be remembered for her charismatic and witty personality.
