Joan Dale Ray, 76, of Decatur, passed away on October 30, 2014, at Decatur Morgan Hospital. Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 4, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Gary Patton officiating. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. There will not be a burial service, the burial will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Trussville next to her beloved son, James. She was a loving wife of 58 years, and loved all her family. Thanksgiving dinners were always special at "Meme's" house. She was a faithful member of the Somerville Road Church of Christ, where she taught Bible school as long as her health permitted. Mrs. Ray was preceded in death by her parents, Lavert and Vera Baker; and last month a son, James Russell Ray. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, James Robert Ray; daughter, Jenny Hedges; son, Bob Ray (Meriley); and grandchildren, Julie Burleson (Mike), Jenna Hedges, Ethan Ray, Aubrey Ray and Chase Smith. Pallbearers will be Elders, Deacons and friends.
