Mr. Black attended Riverside and Decatur High School and Athens College. He was a football manager for Coach Ogle’s Decatur Red Raiders; is a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Monsanto with 38 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jo Heflin Black; his parents; 4 brothers(Otha Black, Morris Black, Greer black, and Gene Black); 2 sisters (Gurstle Rogers, and Mary Houston); and two siblings that did not survive childhood.
He is survived by his two children Cecillia J. Black (Patrick Graft) of Bristow, VA; William J. Black(Gena) of Huntsville, AL; one granddaughter, Audrey Black, of Huntsville, AL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at First Baptist Church Chapel, on Saturday, August 11th from 1:30p.m. until 3:00p.m. The service will begin at 3:00 p.m. with Bro. Roger Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow at Decatur City Cemetery.
