Funeral for John "J.W." Blair, 92, will be today at First United Methodist Church in Hartselle at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Robert Sparkman and the Rev. Harold Thompson officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church.
Mr. Blair, who died October 28, 2011, at Hartselle Medical Center, was born April 8, 1919, in Winston County to Thomas A. Blair and Rilla Denton Blair. He was a retired homebuilder, past president of Decatur Homebuilders, and a resident of Decatur since 1960. Mr. Blair was a member of First United Methodist Church in Hartselle. He was a former member of Heritage Choir, 39 Plus Club, and served on various committees throughout his lifetime of Christian service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorene Hardin Blair of 64 years; grandson, Geoffrey Owen Raley; brothers, James Blair, Willard Blair, Martin Blair, and Allen Blair.
Survivors include his daughter, LaNell Blair Raley (Tommy Owen Raley) of Decatur; sisters, Lillie Mann of Maryville, Tennessee and Margie Pruitt of Clinton, South Carolina; grandchildren, Daphne Raley Sittason (Bob) and Jennifer Raley Sittason, both of Hartselle; great-grandchildren, Payton Bryant Sittason, Raley McAnn Sittason, Grayson Blair Sittason, Madeline Gray Sittason, Mary Sloan Sittason, Wenellyn Grace Sittason; nieces, Penny Littrell (Alan) of Decatur and Pam Hart (Steve) of Vinemont.
Pallbearers will be Payton Bryant Sittason, Grayson Blair Sittason, Robert D. Sittason III, Dr. David B. Sittason, Raymond Breeding, and Ronald Hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to First United Methodist Church in Hartselle, Al - Capital Fund.
