Graveside service for John Thomas "Buck" Nelms, 85, of Decatur will be Monday, October 10, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery with Brother Hugh Bohlin officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Nelms, who died Saturday, October 8, 2011, at Parkway Medical Center, was born July 30, 1926, in Lawrence County to John Henry Nelms and Berchie Lee Clarity Nelms. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and operated Nelms Packing Co. in Decatur for over 50 years. He was a member of Moulton Heights Baptist Church. Mr. Nelms was preceded in death by one brother, Eddie Nelms; and two sisters, Virginia McGuire and Sarah McEntire.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Morgan Nelms; one son, Johnny Nelms of Decatur; one daughter, Beth Aldridge (Erskine) of Decatur; one sister, Vonda Aldrich (Gil) of Decatur; four grandchildren, Vikki Nelms Mullins, Shealaye Hayes, Cory Aldridge and Nikki Nelms; four great-grandchildren.
